Workshops with Sometimes Sarah Paints

‘I’ve not done any art since I left school!’

I hear this so often and it makes me so happy that people have decided to get back to their creative roots.

Whether you haven’t done any artwork for years or art is completely new to you, you’ll always be welcome on my workshops!

Ink & Watercolour Sketchalongs

Monthly on Wednesday evenings and repeated on the Friday morning -£30

Discover architectural sketching through the combination of ink and watercolour. These workshops are designed for anyone with a passion for drawing, urban spaces, and the built environment—whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned sketcher.

Guided step by step, you’ll learn how to:

  • Capture the character and proportions of buildings.
  • Use watercolour washes to bring depth, light, and atmosphere to your sketches.
  • Develop a personal sketching style.

There are two types of workshops. One for beginners, working from a pre-printed design, we focus on the ink and watercolour techniques. Then a workshop for improvers where we start from scratch, learning observation and sketching techniques, followed by the ink and watercolour.

Working from both photographs and real-world locations, we will explore a variety of architectural subjects over time—from sweeping cityscapes to hidden courtyards and intricate details.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll not only have a finished painting, but also the confidence and techniques to continue sketching architecture wherever you go. All materials and light refreshments provided.
